Disability Community Ministry

Ken has been involved with various organizations and ministries who reach out to the disabled community. If you read his opening page background or bio you’d see he is a polio survivor. He has a lot of experience as an individual who has lived with a disability since childhood. He serves as an inspiration to the disabled community as someone who has not allowed his disability to hold him back or keep him from living an active and productive life.

Back in the early 1980’s Ken began sharing as a guest speaker for “Special Touch Ministries,” out of Waupaca. Wisconson. It was extablished and organized by Charlie and Debbie Chivers. They have organized this ministries to provide a week long summer camp for those with disabilities once a year. They provide caregivers for all with disabilities who attend so they can enjoy rest, recreation,

inspiration and relationship building. Ken has shared as a guest speaker for these camps both in Wisconson and Illinois.

These camps are sponsored in many states across America. You can contact them at www. specialtouchministries.org or call 715-258-2713.

There are a few other great ministries to the disability community I have worked with and highly recommend them. They are “Eleos-The Care Network,” led by its founder’s Jim and Rhonette Hukill. Jim a survivor of Muscular Dystrophy is a professional gospel singer and has been an evangelist, preacher and special speaker all over America for many years. He and his wife Rhonette have a deep passion for disabilty ministries, especially married couples who have a disabled spouse. They live in the Orlando,  Florida area and can be contacted at www.eleos.org or called at 407-228-8343.

I have also been privileged to work with Joni and Friends. They have a ministry to those who are disabled, along with their familes, throughout America and many countries around the world.  Joni is a writer, singer, radio host, television host and the founder of Joni and Friends. She on demand as a special speaker world-wide. I have served as a summer camp speaker for Joni amd Friends familycamp in the Spruce Lake Resort of the Pocano Mountains in Pennsylvania. There are many camps throughout the U.S.  They can be contacted by calling 818-707-5664 or the internet at joniandfriends.org

Ken is available to share about how churches and individuals can minister more affectively to the disabled community and their families. Some estimate there are over 50 million people with some type of disability in the U. S. alone. That’s a lot of people who need to know God loves them and has a plan for their lives.
